Spingate invented and has been developing a new class of nonvolatile spin logic that combines advantages of conventional CMOS and
spintronics technologies.
The company's spin logic technology represents an elegant synthesis of conventional logic with embedded
magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) residing above the silicon. MTJs have a marginal impact on design features and performance of the
CMOS logic but offer a nonvolatile storage capability.
Spingate invented a nonvolatile magnetic field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology employing the proprietary spin logic. Spingate's magnetic FPGA technology has excellent scalability, high speed and substantially reduced power consumption in a standby mode of operation. It provides a significant reduction of interconnects and chip size. The magnetic FPGA can effectively compete with existing CMOS FPGA technologies in price and performance. A majority of the components in the magfnetic FPGA are nonvolatile.
Spingate's spin logic technology provides unique opportunity for creating several new classes of nonvolatile semiconductor devices including microcontrollers and microprocessors.
